I worked at Lloyd ctr on the pre event. We arrived shortly after 17:00, and the platform was already full of customers. Fare sales didn’t start until about 17:45, I would suggest an earlier start as we were very busy helping people at the machines. Once fare sales began I moved to the express buses. Business was very brisk; I would suggest at least three selling fares, with two having credit transaction capabilities. So it is noted, half of the buses were without transfers in their pouches, we had to scramble to get some for all.
Post event I was at Old Town. I think that most people have gotten the message that this is not their best bet to get a train E/B. the platform was not very busy, and had to many TriMet people there. There were as many as nine of us at the end of the event, probably four more than needed. Except for a large fight just off of the W/B platform, all went well.

Fortunately, the Lead supervisors were a pleasure to work with. I feel they were a major reason that the things that flowed smoothly did so.
When police road blocks were set up in other places than what was expected (forcing buses to not take their written reroutes), why was it necessary to get a manager’s approval? When police block our way and directly state to operators that they will not get bumped through, what alternative is there besides tying it up right there? If managers are not going to trust their field personnel to make these decisions on their own as they do in normal operations, then those managers should be out in the field to deal with such situations directly. I found it borderline insulting that after doing this job for 17 years that I was treated like a rookie all over again (by management.)
Being stationed at 18th & Jefferson was wise until the Starlight Run concluded. After that, it seemed to be a wasted resource. Jefferson and Columbia were both open by that point so line 6 and rerouted line 15 were no longer affected. (Line 58 had ended service before the run ever started.) With three supervisors who were at intersections forced to end at 22:00, perhaps this shift should have been scheduled to relocate to one of those intersections.

Four Green Line trains in a row going down 6th ave.
Should have been at least one Yellow line in there somewhere.
I was located at 6th & Salmon. Corner went extremely well had excellent help setting up and dismantling the barricades. Minimal delays with bump-thru’s.

---------------------------------
I was the Eastside Roamer, Everything went well on my area except that I had to run the Gateway shuttle for the red line, green line and blue line from 10:30pm to 1:10 am with the Anne the lead because the supervisor assigned to that was tied up down town and unable to make it.
---------------------
I was assigned CBD oversight for Bus Operation, reroute activation, and bike rack deployment. Roll call for Road Supervisor’s was conducted at 1415. I gave out assignments for bike rack teams, shuttle bus operations, precinct buses, and signage detail. Everyone hit the street by 1500 with their assignments. Streets were due to close by 1800 and I had everyone in place at their bump thru by 1700.
The street closure in the formation area was due to close at 1600 but streets were closed and blocking about 20 minutes prior. Three reroutes had to change due to closures blocking routes. These closures were not shown on the traffic plan we used for reroutes. It’s critical that the traffic plan reflects the closures so we get our reroutes out correctly. This was on lines 17, 77, and 20.
The bump thru’s seemed to go pretty smooth. I was made aware of an incident(s) where a manager directed peds in front of a bus when the Supervisors were bumping through. I am not a big fan of managers at bump thru’s for many reasons and would like it reviewed by safety. This is not an environment that they are used to working in. They should only be out there in a customer service roll. At another bump thru I noticed two managers that just stood there and watched the parade. I’m sure that is not what we want to show the public.
There did not seem to be a lot of chatter on the EOC. I don’t know if that’s a good thing. I was not being told enough information in the field. It seemed like we waited too long to restart the shuttle on 2nd avenue.
I feel that we had too many road supervisors. It would have been good until we added the six codes shifts. Too many folks for me to effectively manage. I would like to review our deployment early in the planning next year.
Post event seemed to go well until I found out that we didn’t have any service on the yellow line. I know that we are aware and will debrief and review. I found this out from a Road Supervisor who saw a large crowd on the platform at Oak and got out to help. We need to assign the Rail Supervisors to monitor post service and assist customers on the platform. They seemed to disappear when the parade was over. That is when we should be going to work.
There was a really upset driver at 0045 that we filled and had him go to the garage. He was late all night and felt that he wasn’t being supported by Dispatch. We need to review how we fill late service on this night. From what I heard this Op had a rough night without breaks that should not happen.
------------------------------
No major delays on lines #12 and #77. However, there were delays on the line #75. As a suggestion in the future you may want to re-route line #75 and use the extras buses to stub through the transit center.
Glisan St and 60th could be used to avoid major delays on line #75. Stub from Cesar Chavez and Glisan to 57th and Fremont.
