TRIMET BUS DRIVER GETS SPIT IN FACE

Fair dispute, over a expired honored citizen card, she offered him the ride and said that he had to get an updated card. He got mad and demanded his dollar back, when he knew it could not be retrieved. Then he went overboard ranting about other things then said that it was her responsibility to update his card. Communications broke down from there and she was not going to be berated and he had to get off. When he got off he tried to break into someone's house, couldn't do then took off, the police brought the dogs out.

Just give the guy a ticket. All the rest could have been avoided.I will never understand why driver feel the need to with hold tickets. I personally would never even asked for his card. on the other hand it shows that you never know what is lurking on the other side of the door.

First off not black/not white, second @flat as soon as the company finds a standard SOP on this type of situation ops act as professional as possible without something to follow; the scum of the earth lurks all around us trying to find a way to start trouble over lying about a fare, trying to scurt the rules. Plus, you can get a HC card for a hang nail, he should have been able to renew.

Secret riders spot an op giving a ticket without receiving full fare can be sighted for stealing from the company.

TriMet has no clear-cut policy regarding what operators are required or not required to do pertaining to collecting fares?

Many transit agencies around the country are no longer requiring their transit operators to enforce the collection of fares.

The agency at which I worked, we were requested to ask for the fare only once and not to push it past that point. We were to let the person ride no matter what was paid or not paid and to give them a transfer if requested. Shortly before I retired eight years ago, I believe they actually changed the policy so that even asking once was no longer required. I believe they were even disciplining operators if found they were engaging in a fare dispute with any rider.

Obviously, some in the low-income community took it upon themselves to declare that riding the bus was free and only fools would be stupid enough to pay a fare. However, the agency didn't seem concerned at all as they make the majority of fare revenue from commuters where the vast majority are honest enough to pay fares, buy passes, etc.
