Trimet is going full fledge villain mode https://t.co/TMl8wqIIR5

We need TriMet to stop criminalizing poverty. But even more than that, this absurd example shows how law abiding, PAID transit riders are targeted for their perceived economic status. This will only get worse if TriMet raises fares and continues to ramp up enforcement. https://t.co/V99TdkOx8C

A homeless Street Roots vendor was fined $175 by TriMet for not tapping his Hop card when he boarded the MAX. @cc_herron reports. https://t.co/wWwqM8iL0R

Which emoji did you use for the $175 fine for a Street Roots Vendor who already paid for a tap card???

Tomorrow is my first day of on the job training at PDX...TriMet thinks this is the best option. I have concerns. pic.twitter.com/a24vVuSLOd

Raising fare prices every two years π¬π¬π¬ fining $175 for forgetting to tap despite already paying to rideπ¬π¬π¬ hiring a bunch of transit inspectors to police poor folks π¬π¬π¬

Why require "tapping" a hop pass, when you paid for the month? Why fine people who can prove they pay?

You're losing this PR battle.
Hiring fare inspectors instead of investing in better, reliable service π¬

I fail to see one single rational reason why @trimet now requires *monthly pass* to be tapped to be valid. It significantly slows down boarding esp. at MAX/WES stations at peak hours, no need for this whatsoever.

$175 fee for a $2.50 (or $1.25) ticket. Not to mention, he had a valid ticket. Outrageous @trimet
