SAMMY TIME

At the Wheel: Appreciation

I appreciate you! I appreciate everything you’ve done, and continue to do, to keep our agency and our customers moving forward. You’ve overcome adversity and the emotional ups and downs the past few years have brought, and you’ve done it with compassion, determination and resilience! The leadership team and I want to show our gratitude with a special appreciation bonus this holiday season. We hope this helps a bit or is a pleasant surprise that will allow you to splurge on something for yourself or a loved one. More on that in a moment! Today, I also need to ask for your help. We need to grow the TriMet team. Specifically, we are extremely short on bus operators, as are transit agencies across the nation. As TriMet is often a family affair, with many different family members finding homes here, we are offering a bonus to employees for referring new, qualified operator candidates. Please talk to your family, friends, even that favorite customer who’s always making sure to thank you for the ride. If you are out shopping, eating at a restaurant or somewhere else where you experience great customer service, tell that person about TriMet! Here are the details: Appreciation Bonus The appreciation bonus will be $1,000 and will be paid in the Dec. 22, 2021 paycheck. Eligible employees need to be actively employed at TriMet as of Nov. 19, 2021. Employees hired after Nov. 19 are not eligible for the bonus. The bonus is payable to all employees (limited term, part-time, full-time) and will be subject to standard payroll taxes.

Hiring Bonus To help draw new operators, we are now also offering a hiring bonus. All new operator candidates hired between November 29, 2021 and May 29, 2022 are eligible to receive a staggered bonus valued up to $2,500 if they successfully complete training and probation and remain employed by TriMet on the dates that the bonus payouts are due to be paid. New operators will receive $500 in their first TriMet paycheck, $1,000 after their first six months and another $1,000 after their first year at the agency. A candidate qualifies as a new operator if they have never worked for TriMet or if they are a former employee whose employment ended prior to Aug. 1, 2021 I want to thank ATU President Shirley Block for working with us on these bonuses as well as our HR and Finance teams. Again, thank you as well for all you do, and will continue to do, to make our service and our agency welcoming. Take care of yourself and thanks for going the extra mile, Sam
