FROM ACTIVIST TO SHILL

As long as people keep saying everything is lovely and "they did their best"  there will be no movement to change things for the better.

TRIMET is a failed transit agency and has subjected its dependent riders to tremendous misery, and now with their endless hubris they are about to impose a fare increase onto the backs of the poorest people in the district.

When I was working over at TriMet I remember Dan as being one of the leading activists for positive change and used to fearlessly take on the management. 11 years later he has flipped 180 degrees and now defends everything Trimet does

The problem with people like Dan and all the other shills out there is that they

PREVENT POSITIVE CHANGE FROM HAPPENING

But constantly defending the status quo they are damaging the prospect for any sort of improvement in the future.

Riders and drivers need people who are willing to stand up and say "something is not right here we need to do better" and do it forcefully

There are also more than a few drivers that seem to lack any empathy at all for the people suffering the most in the Portland Metro area.

They don't seem to understand that they are dealing people at the lowest economic strata of society and many of them are literally in the ditch. Those people will never be able to live up to the standards that some of the drivers seem to think they should live up to.

Its just a damn shame what's going on over there on multiple levels
