MBTA takes twitter seriously
Trimet has only recently started engaging riders on Twitter. Boston has been doing it for awhile now. Their twitter person is in the control area so they can also tweet things that are now tweeted by the privately owned TRIMET SCANNER account.

Trimet begins its new bells and whistles project
Trimet, the Bells&Whistles leader in the transit field, is beginning its new E-Fare ticket scheme.
It's all very nice of course until you realize that this is costing $30,000,000 and that money is come directly out of the general fund.
That's a lot of money which could have been used for direct rider services.
It's a damn shame that Trimet executive management wastes so much revenue for so many unnecessary things.
These new Trimet twitter staffers are really engaging riders
Over the last couple of months Trimet staff has really taken to responding to Trimet tweets.
I mean they are checking the hashtags, not just the tweets sent directly to them.
With that kind of engagement they will definitely continue to move the public towards a 'positive' emotional response.
It almost makes me think that the paranoia at Trimet starting to wane.

It's the usual 'look how great we are doing' schpeel.

ATU757 bylaws change vote coming up
Do you want your union executive officers elected on a minority or majority vote?
The way things are structured now whoever has the most votes gets to be President, Vice President, and Treasurer.
This proposal provides that an elected official must have 50% +1 vote to take office.
This will be accomplished by run off elections where no clear winner is elected.
I fully support this change to the bylaws.
Trimet hiring even more people in public relations
I personally think this is disgraceful.
All these positions should be eliminated and those funds used for direct service.
All these people do is pump propaganda into the mainstream
February's weird TriMet service alerts
NOTE: Many of these alerts were written by
dispatchers who are not expected to be language experts, may not have
time to proofread, and make mistakes like all humans. They may have
many other tasks in progress at the moment, such as dealing with buses
that are already stuck due to the blockage or situations elsewhere.
While the errors probably should be forgiven, they can cause confusion
or problems for those who try to follow them.

Congratulations to OPAL and Bus Riders Unite on the extended transfer time
It took OPAL almost 4 year to get this change.
Let me repeat that -4 YEARS!
Trimet stonewalled and toyed with them that long.
And just before the Trimet board finally approved the change we had to listen to the hypocracy and lies of two of the board members who turned the entire conflict around and blamed OPAL for the mess. You'll notice in the recent press stories about this all the credit for the extended transfer is going to Trimet.
Government at its worst here.
