ATU ACTIVISTS PLAN PICKET

ear ATU Activist,

Once again we will be holding an informational picket before the TriMet Board meeting Wednesday February 23rd. We will picket from 8:00 am - 9:00 am and then move inside to address the Board. I encourage everyone that is not working to attend. I also suggest you sign up to address the Board, let your opinions be heard, tell the Board how these insurance costs are affecting you. The Board needs to know their lack of action is affecting real live people. I have attached a flyer. If you can, please print and distribute or forward this e-mail to anyone that may be interested.

I would also like to give you a quick update. We continue to work with the Governor’s office. I encourage you to call the Governor’s office and respectfully let him know that what is happening at TriMet and the Board meetings is unacceptable. You have the right to be heard and meetings should not be closed before everyone has spoken, especially other Board members . We have opened dialogue with Attorney General John Kroger and several State Senators and Representatives. Initial talks prove hopeful that we will gain more momentum in applying political pressure to the TriMet Board, General Manager Neil McFarlane and management. We also have received letters of support from The Northwest Oregon Labor Council And the Oregon AFL-CIO. I have also attached copies of those letters.

If you have not already done so, please visit:  www.atu757.org and watch the videos of previous board meetings.
Fraternally,

Jonathan J. Hunt
President-Business agent ATU 757
