There was zero way #trimet personnel or their agent were NOT aware of that mob getting on train.

Wow, it sure is easy to fault the little guy, especially when you don't know the facts.
Trimet will rarely back you as a supervisor in removing folks, even if their mouths get foul. Most likely a- pull them off that train.put them on next one...b- put them on the other car of the same train. C- write them a citation if over 18-under gets an exclusion. Problem solved? Nope. TM mgmt wont back you up.
The media and TM G.M has everyone believing we are the bad guys. We're really not.
We HAVE negotiated in good faith; we are willing to pay more on our insurance WITH THE ASSURANCE the money goes to upkeep/infrastructure, not some new manager or pet projrct. Our benefits are good. They are good for a reason. We havr shorter lifespans than most of our peers. It is hard on your body. YES. you knew what we sigbed up for when we took the job (why many took it) benefits & wages
Problem right now is that TRIMET HAS BEEN HIRING BUS OPERATORS for the last six months & still can't find enough qualified drivers. Hint: it's listed as mini-runner. You start part time 30 hrs a wk, full time usually within a year.
So...put up or shut up. The job is here for the asking. Now's your chance to fo better than that cranky ol bus driver you know.
As for the thugs..lets address that. Those thugsth haven't done anything illegal yet. Unfortunately, at this point not much can be done..at this point. They don't have to have valid fare at lloyd or rose quarter- it's free for a few more weeks. Had they done anything (other than misdemeanor mouth)? Yes, the operator normally WILL stay in the cab..thinkfor a minute-if the operator gets hurt, train goes no where. If operator stays in his cab, he can call for help while moving it to a safer location & cop accessible. Like duh!
Was the operator on time? Was he early, in which he had to wait..did the supervisor tell him to hold? Was he one of the last trains of the night? There's always more to it.
Well said, the company does not explain these things to the general public about the scheduling rules that we have to abide by, instead "its always the drivers fault". Think for a moment, "if that was you", trying to catch a bus/train, do you want us to wait for you? Or should we discriminate and leave you? That is the question.
