Legalized Marijuana just another way to control Trimet union employees

So you went to Washington on your vacation and took a couple of puffs of the evil weed last week.
 5 days have passed since you smoked the evil weed.

You come back to work at Trimet they send you to their little van just hoping they can find some of that evil weed in you so they can fire you on the spot or force you into some oppressive regiment of continuous drug testing forever because 'you can't be trusted'.

Doesn't matter that all the effects of the evil weed are long gone from your consciousness. Nope, Trimet doesn't care about that. They just care about controlling your life

They go to any and all extents to find ways to abuse their employees. Remember,as  a Trimet driver you are just a piece of replaceable equipment to the oligarchs who own Trimet. You are nothing to them. Don't fool yourself, no union employee owes that crap company a damn thing.

In fairness, at least for "safety sensitive employees", the policy comes from the Federal government, and came after a serious train crash caused by a train crew that was using marijuana.

From 1987 Maryland train collision: In 1991, prompted in large part by the Chase Maryland crash, the United States Congress took even broader action and authorized mandatory random drug-testing for all employees in "safety-sensitive" jobs in all industries regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) including trucking, bus carriers and rail systems.

But it's okay for drivers to come in sick and it's okay for drivers to work 14 days in a row. I for one do not buy the drug hysteria shit especially as it applies to marijuana usage from one week ago

I knew a driver when I was working at Santa Rosa transit in the 80's who smoked pot every day b4 work for 25 years. Never had even 1 accident

I believe the national ATU is trying to do something about overworked employees. But in any case, all I'm saying is that the drug issue is beyond TriMet's control.

And u have to understand. When you allow yourself to be employed by Trimet you have to give up rights other citizens routinely enjoy.

Complete and total HYPOCRISY used as a means to suppress a class of individuals under the guise of Safety.
There are untold numbers of TriMet management employees who make safety sensitive decisions every day yet do not fall under the federal rules. Not even the head of TriMet is subject.
Think about it really! I know of few police and no doctors, nurses or policy makers who are subject.
It sure aint' about safety folks.

CDL & with it Controlled substance rules are still regulated by the FMCSA (at least on paper)even for public transit agencies. Hours of service however are not. And if you think the hours Tri-Met let's its drivers work are bad then you should see what school bus drivers are allowed to do.
