Researchers measured the affects of a new TRAX light rail line serving the university on the clogged-up 400-500 South in Utah's largest city. This was just one examination of how light rail could affect traffic volumes along a single travel corridor used by university staff and employees, who all receive free transit passes.
This particular study is for a very specific light rail line carrying a very specific population of people who are then given free passes to ride it. How is the study applicable to anywhere else? It's not!
There is loads and loads of other data that dispute that study but the Oregonian cites none of it.
It's a very clear attempt to manufacture consent for light rail projects here in the Portland area. The Oregonian is a huge supporter of the light rail agenda and this is just more proof that the mainstream media is for the most part nothing but a stooge of the Trimet agenda

The Utah light rail line goes from an enclave of university employees and students to the university.
We could achieve the same results here. All we need to do is get most Intel staff to live in Orenco, run a line straight from there to the Intel campus, and give them all free passes.
Interestingly, on the Utah line, less than 8% of operating costs are recouped through paying riders.
