Trimet Kirk Reeves bridge contractor is the same contractor that screwed up the 217 flyover ramp

Kiewit Construction screwed up the 217 ramp who knows if this bridge will be safe

 It turns out that the contractor that Trimet has hired to build the Kirk Reeves Bridge (aka Till-I-Cum bridge) built the faulty 217 flyover ramp. If they use the same lousy craftsmanship in building the new bridge that they did on the flyover ramp we got big problems ahead

The contractor hired to build the Oregon 217 flyover ramp, where a series of crashes have jammed up freeway traffic in recent days, received a $560,000 bonus from the state for finishing the project nearly two months early.

On Thursday morning, ODOT announced that it will completely close the flyover ramp in Tigard from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday to allow surveyors to evaluate the structure.
Last week, the transportation agency said a road joint that is gradually splitting has likely contributed to a series of crashes in recent days. The teeth of the huge metal seam are popping up and may be tripping up the tires on vehicles traveling faster than the 35 mph advisory speed.

In fact, ODOT records show that its crews have been forced to grind down parts of the joint that have popped out of plumb at least twice since the $38.2 million ramp opened nearly 17 months early.
Similar issues with the joint occurred in 2004 and 2011.
Kiewit Construction, the highly respected company currently building TriMet's Tilikum Crossing transit bridge across the Willamette River in Portland, received a $10,000-a-day incentive for finishing its work early.
