Neil Berlin

The usual strategy.  This has been the the case when it comes to the ergonomic design of MAX operators cabs. Even TriMets own paid for studies have shown that is what I refer to as “Ergonomic Torture Chambers “. Let alone the cabs are death traps if fire occurs in the main passenger compartment.

I have as much support in pressing these issues for over six years on my own. With not even nod that there is even problems that are worth the time of TriMet management to respond. For to respond in writing that alone would be proof that management knows there is a problem. Can’t wait to see how the new MAX Type 6 has responded to suggestions that rail operators submitted before production proceed.  I hear that that TriMet has a new dog & pony show operators committee to help TriMet management know what the problems bus and rail operators face on a daily basis.  What these type of committees actually do is serve as public relations tool so that TriMet can claim that they really care about the the physical and mental health of its operators.

Note, this current maturation of operators input via this committee is not the first. By my recollection this the fourth! ( If one wants to count the PIP committees this would be the fifth.). I commend those of operators who are taking the time to serve on these type of committees but they must not loose sight they are being use as props, pawns, in a strategy that is not new…delay and do nothing.  If TriMet management does not know or even aware of day to day front line problems the operators face one can wonder why are in that position as a manager?  The next follow up question logically would be is what do they do when they actually show up to work when not working from the safety of their home?
