An online survey TriMet released in December shows more than half of respondents said they would use TriMet less if it increases fares.
TriMet officials said it will not consider implementing a fareless system or increasing taxes as an alternate solution to increasing fares.
If a deficit hits, TriMet director of budget and grants Nancy Young-Oliver said the gap between revenue and operation costs would likely lead to line closures and layoffs. (LYING AS THEY ALWAYS DO)
