DRIVER VS RIDER

TOM HORTON WITH INTERESTING REBUTTAL TO JOE ROSE

So, Joe Rose, you think you can drive a bus?
First of all, you have to show up to work well before the morning rush hour, bright-eyed, mentally awake, and physically fit for duty. Don’t forget you hold a federally standardized Medical Examiner’s Certification – that annual physical exam you are required to have in order to keep your Commercial Driver's License. This federal law states you must never drive under the influence of any kind of intoxicant – the standard for which is fully twice as demanding as that which is required of any other motorist on the road – you must never refuse a field sobriety test, and you must never blow .04 BAC or above. This standard necessitates a lifestyle commitment: no late-night parties, drunken benders or even a casual social gathering with a few friends if it involves booze on a work night.

WAR ON TRANSIT WORKERS

First transit takes over and immediately goes after the workers
Drivers on the picket line in front of Tempe bus yard said their biggest issue with First Transit, which took over operations for part of the Valley Metro system July 1, was job security.
The contract between the regional transit authority and First Transit would override First Transit's proposed deal with the union, because of a clause within the labor contract, according to union members.
"It doesn't protect our members, it doesn't protect any of the operators," said James Washington, a driver for 23 years who serves on the board of Amalgamated Transit Union's Local 1433. "It gives management the right to run rampant and do whatever they like and their client basically dictates what they need to do to us.

CLASSIC TWEETS

The driver can be fired for going through the light without police or supervisory approval

Working With Dignity Should Be Mandatory

by David Macaray / August 2nd, 2013
Besides superior wages and benefits, one of the advantages of belonging to a union is that you can perform your job with dignity. Under a union contract, the boss can’t harass you, he can’t arbitrarily mess with your hours or seniority, and he can’t alter your pay. After fighting with his wife, your boss can’t show up for work and make you the unfair target of his foul mood. Your rights are laid out in the contract, and when those rights are violated, you have the means to fight back.

YESTERDAYS POLICE CALLS TO TRIMET IN MULTONMAH COUNTY

13 police calls to Trimet, does not include supervisor calls and situations that operators handle themselves and no calls from outside Multnomah

BART WORKES GIVE 72 HOUR NOTICE

Bart workers are carrying the water for all transit workers. Great to see such solidarity and focus with the BART workers. Of course its same old tiresome hyperbole about the transit workers being 'unsustainable'. Funny how its always the same story at each of the different transit agencies. Nobody is looking at the $350k general manager and all the riches that have been awarded to past managers, nope, just like Trimet the greed mongers in charge of BART have manipulated the masses to focus on the front line employees.

Hyperbole or no, it's really hard to avoid being cynical of everything TriMet does. Having had opportunities to meet with them behind closed doors only confirms how much of a mindgame it becomes. This whole riders club really makes me see it as a way for people to think that they are making change, but TriMet has a streak of not listening to feedback. It may placate some people, but I can't say it eases my mind.
Of course, there is also the question of where they get the money to afford the prizes and frivolity offered when supposedly the union is about to crash every single thing about TriMet short of the exec raises.

ROAD SUPERVISOR TO KIDNAP A DRIVER

The white shirts are not pals to union drivers. They are all sell outs to the management. I know, I worked there for 15 years and I listen to the daily operations. They tow the company line and do what they are told to without question. That's why they get promoted. There are only several white shirts that question authority, and even they backed down when confronted with loss of job.

The management can not demand you see them in your off time.
Don't fall for this nonsense. If this were me I would tell the supervisor I am off duty but will report to Romo at my report time tomorrow and leave-DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU AND DON'T DARE WALK IN THERE WITHOUT JEFF ACKERSON NEXT TO YOU!
Remember, management by intimidation is HOW THEY ROLL!

TRIMET-DESTROYING BUSINESS,PROPERTY,AND COMMUTES

As they shove this light rail line down peoples throats those that are not profiting directly from this project and who are unlucky enough to be in its way  will  suffer greatly!
TriMet officials say that keeping businesses and residences accessible is a top priority throughout all phases of construction. They promise that local access for businesses and residences within the closure area will be maintained at all times (ya right sure people will wade through your mess to get to those businesses)

CLASSIC TWEETS-FOOLING THE INSPECTORS

A June 2013 Gallup poll revealed that 70% of Americans hate their jobs or have “checked out” of them.

For many of us, society has become increasingly alienating, isolating and insane, and earning a buck means more degrees, compliance, ass-kissing, shit-eating, and inauthenticity. So, we want to rebel. However, many of us feel hopeless about the possibility of either our own escape from societal oppression or that political activism can create societal change. So, many of us, especially young Americans, rebel by what is commonly called mental illness.

WAR AGAINST TRANSIT WOKERS

Transit workers are an easy target for the 'power elite' that continues sucking up the wealth that is given up by the working class. Transit workers have very little sympathy from a public that is mostly using cars to get around and 'bus driver' is a very disrespected profession in a country that values the valueless like athletes and celebrities

Forty of Valley Metro Regional Public Transportation Authority’s 101 Phoenix-area bus lines would cease. Transit officials said the 40 routes in jeopardy average 57,000 weekday boardings. Light rail will not be affected. (they've been able to split the workers in Arizona)

TRIMET DRIVER IS RUDE AND THAT IS NEWS?

According to KATU which is Mary Fetsch's old stomping ground, this is what makes news. Of course KATU is the cheerleader in the mainstream media for the destruction of union workers pensions and benefits.
It's just ridiculous what qualifies as news in this cow town.

yellow journalism
the practice of seeking out sensational news for the purpose of boosting a newspaper’s circulation, or, if such stories are hard to find, of trying to make comparatively innocuous news appear sensational. Also called sensationalism. — yellow journalist, n.
