Does anyone at TriMet care?

Today, in front of my building at 4th and Hall, attempted to ride the #12 to 6th and Yamhill to Pioneer Courthouse Square.

The bus stop was completely taped off.

A TriMet supervisor pulled up...sat in his car...when I made it clear that, uh, what the hell am I supposed to do?  He just sat in his luxury sport utility vehicle, glared at me (how dare he open his window and let all that air conditioned air escape!) and left.

Called 238-RIDE.  "Well, we didn't know about that...sometimes the contractors don't tell us (never mind the dozens of buses, Supervisors, and the fact this was a city of Portland project...)"  We'll let dispatch know.

As of three hours later, there is still not a Rider Alert posted, nor anything at http://www.trimet.org/, TriMet's Facebook or Twitter account.  But there is a nice Facebook post about some TriMet maintenance tech that has some interesting hobby.

REALLY???????

I ended up taking a 44 bus after a five block walk...which dropped me off two blocks further than I wanted to go...and ended up walking the entire trip back to work.  TriMet - See where it takes you today.

(I'm sure there's a good explanation from Jason McHuff how this was acceptable service to bus riders and better than any other transit agency in the world.)

TRIMET CARES!

There was indeed an entry on the Service Alerts page the other day saying that stop was closed. Its possible it fell off of it or got deleted. People and systems aren't perfect. Did you ask the operator of the 44 you did ride what she knew about the stop closure?

"luxury sport utility vehicle"

I had no idea the Ford Escape was a luxury vehicle. I guess you learn something new every day!

You know it's was the big bucks that TriMet operators make that allowed Al to purchase his luxury Ford.

Al's luxury Ford

BTW-the new supervisor vehicles are much nicer than my luxury ford.

There was NO posted alert at the bus stop, and I had checked and there were no alerts at www.trimet.org, on Facebook or Twitter. Nothing. In fact the TriMet Customer Service Representative I called at 503-238-RIDE also did not know of the stop closure.

And, the Supervisor was not driving a Ford Escape.

And no I didn't, because I was too fucking out of breath trying to make sure I didn't miss the 44 after the six block walk so that I could get where I was going and back without being late to work.

Yes, I am held to being on time and get charged with a tardy (and docked pay). Maybe I ought to start docking pay to TriMet each time it fails me.

Well, I don't know what happened on that day. But I do know that I did see on a prior day an alert on the Service Alerts Web page warning that the stop was closed.

OK Erik, then what was he driving that was so luxurious?

A TriMet branded Cayenne?

... and Erik didn't respond to this, either. I'm still looking forward to hearing about the TriMet luxury SUV.
