I love this comment, from "Sara":

"As a car-free person with kids, I’ve found that the only way to deal with the inconvenience of mass transit is to plan our life around it."

What's hilariously ironic about this comment, is that when private concerns ran the transit system and railroads, the public was so fed up at having to make their lives revolve around those private companies, that they demanded that the government improve roads, and even taxed themselves to pay for it!

Now, that the transit systems are public...we're supposed to submit to it and plan our lives around transit - where we live, eat, recreate, educate?

Whatever happened to "Government of the people, by the people and for the people..." and a transit system, run by the government for the sake and benefit of the people? I shouldn't have to plan my life around TriMet (or any other transit agency), it exists to serve me. Government exists to serve the people. Not the other way around, at least not in America...
