In response to a recent series of
high-profile attacks on TriMet passengers, the regional transit agency
said Friday that is changing its security deployment tactics and will be
targeting missions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
TriMet officials declined to discuss the specific
changes, saying they cannot provide such details as times and locations
of the upcoming missions because they related to security.
Three attacks have generated headlines in the past
few weeks. The first occurred on Dec. 26 when a 14-year-old Centennial
High School student was assault by three young women on a Green Line MAX
train. The attackers were arrested Thursday and their mother was also
charged with hindering prosecution.
A 15-year-old Benson High School student was

the Rose Quarter. His assailant has not yet been caught.
Then on Thursday, police arrested a mother and her
daughter for punching two passengers on a TriMet bus near Southeast
122nd Avenue and Division Street.
According to statistics released by TriMet, 471
crimes were reported along the system in 2010, the last year for which
