Tweeks on Trimet

Portland police seek public's help to identify man in groping of girl at TriMet bus stop | OregonLive.com

I can barely keep up with Trimet public relations

In case you haven't noticed we are in the midst of another propaganda blitz by Trimet and its cohorts.
All of a sudden for no reason at all there are a multitude of articles extolling the virtues of the best transit system the world has seen, Trimet.
Trimet itself is pumping all sorts of bells and whistles out right now. Its crazy! They are trying to so hard to get the public to like them.
Maybe they can achieve some of their goals with this endless propaganda, but actions speak bigger than propaganda, and we will be watching right here

Here is this now: Help make transit better in your community. | The Future of Transit

Max is falling apart but they got a nice refurbished building

Porkland planning at its best!

MOVING TOGETHER: CENTER ST
We are roughly one month away from meeting the next milestone at the recently remodeled Center St facility. Monday, March 24, will mark the first day employees will start work in the recently remodeled 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors at Center.

Look at what else Seattle Metro drivers get

Great union communication

Would love to see THIS sort of thing coming from ATU 757
Amalgamated Transit Union Local 587

Fragility is us

The Steel Bridge is scheduled to close this weekend through Monday morning, disrupting traffic and transit.
According to TriMet, the closure is the second consecutive weekend the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), which owns the bridge, will be doing maintenance work on the it. During the work, the bridge will be closed to all traffic including TriMet buses and MAX trains, affecting late night rides and Sunday/Monday morning commutes.(Lesson learned yet once again, don't give up your car)
Steel Bridge closes again this weekend

What's the real story on those cell phone tickets

The minimum purchase requirement was in reality a stealth fare increase and discriminated against riders who buy discounted tickets by forcing them to buy more than they needed. (actually it forces everyone to buy more than they need)
So they have sold 700,000....how many have actually been used. Wanna bet Globesherpa ignores my tweet?
Forcing minimum purchases guarantees that there will be some amount of purchases that will never be used which makes profit for services never delivered.

Nothing like a bridge to distract people

 (my comment on the article)
Let me start this by saying I am not a 'right wing anti transit tea bagger'.
If you must know I voted green party in the last election. Those people that attempt to paint everyone who has opposite opinions from themselves as "nuts' are nothing but the 'liberal' (for lack of a better word) example of the same thing they accuse the tea baggers of. Intolerance and closed mindedness.

No matter how many pretty pictures they produce, no matter how many 'socially relevant' names or contests to find names, this is a pork project costing $1.5 billion to a town that already had transit service ,it adds nothing to the already existing network.

There are so many places that could have used that $1.5 billion to actually improve transit services rather than change them from one mode to the other.

Pork Definition:
"""1: Personally motivated spending of government funds by politicians. Spending the wealth of the people but not in the interests of the people."""

Truthfully ask yourselves, who exactly is this project benefiting? It's sure not the people who use transit that much is obvious.

Made her day!

This actually made my day. Saw this replacing the real #TriMet signage. Oh, #Portlanders.

LET'S RIP THEM A NEW ONE

HOW TO SPOT USELESS PRO TRIMET PROPAGANDA

Before I get into this let me state that there is no doubt that Trimet has vastly improved their social media presence, that much is obvious to those of us who follow this stuff.
I've seen example after example of Trimet actually corresponding with riders on twitter and even solving some problems so to that I say good job!

Maybe I am harder on them than most critics but its well deserved as far as I am concerned.

Now how do we, as members of the public spot Bull shit articles about Trimet? (or for that matter about any governmental or private institution)

It's actually very simple, the article or essay will offer no criticism of the agency whatsoever and only sings it praises. Furthermore if the article/essay is not allowing comments or is 'moderating' comments you know whoever wrote it is not interested in contrary points of view but only expounding their point of view.

When you see these things warning bells should go off in the readers heads
P-R-O-P-A-G-A-N-D-A!

I'm referring to the following article:  Government Communication & TriMet's Winter Weather Response | Emerging Local Government Leaders NetworkEmerging Local Government Leaders Network

Now I tried to read that as carefully as possible but as soon as it lost credibility with me I started skimming the article, not even one line of criticism was found.

It also needs to be noted that the author is studying 'public affairs' and had recently worked as at an internship at the City of West Linn where he did work in communications and public affairs.

Obviously Ben has learned the game well and I am sure a good paying job in some local government awaits him.

Let me repeat, personally I think Trimet has improved its social media response 1000%, however we that follow this stuff know that they always seem to disappear off social media when the proverbial shit hits the fan.

TRIMET MAY BE BAD BUT IT AINT 'ATLANTA BAD'

LATEST EDITION OF SEEN AND HEARD ON TRIMET

But not seen on TRIMET'S HOW WE ROLL BLOG!
TRIMET SCANNER TWEETS

TOO CUTE TO RESIST

Meanwhile back in the trenches

Unknown to the public because the media doesn't report it and TRIMET covers it up is the daily war on the ground that occurs at Portland's 'gem' called Trimet (aka Trimess). Risking life and limb the operators of buses and trains brave the cruel world daily while their employer actively works to lower their wages and destroy their benefits. They are all slaves  to the company  taking abuse after abuse insult after insult.
They are most definitely soldiers in a war. This is a tiny list of some of the hundred daily things that happen in that war

If only people knew they were slaves

This is just as true today as when Tubman said it originally

PORTLAND STREET CAR LOOKING FOR NEW EXECUTIVE

Gets stuck in traffic like any car but unlike a bus it can't drive around obstacles, but its CUTE!
The Portland Streetcar, Inc. Board of Directors is searching for their first fully–dedicated, full–time Executive Director. The PSI Board of Directors is interested in qualified candidates for Executive Director for PSI to help facilitate the Streetcar's continued success and growth in Portland.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for leading and managing PSI's development and operations. This seasoned professional will be instrumental in employing a "Customer First" approach to managing PSI while demonstrating the capabilities to oversee finance, operation, board development/engagement, and importantly, the key regional partnerships that include TriMet and the City of Portland. Many of us know the exact cause of the TRIMET problem

Quote is from Jonathan Oster's Oregonian essay

Think about the bridge not about how f@#$ed everything is

Bureaucrats discuss something that we don't care about
A chevron pattern formed by the white cables on TriMet‘s new transit bridge over the Willamette River is intended to reflect the shape of Mount Hood and other snowy peaks in the region, said its designer,
architect Donald MacDonald.(Jesus Christ save us)

TRISTAPO PISSES OFF EVERYBODY

WHO'S BEHIND THIS HILARIOUS COMEDY SHOW CALLED TRIMESS

Not easy to screw things up so badly that they become funny but at Trimet we have some real stars when it comes to screwing things up!

Meanwhile in the not so funny part of the TRIMESS misoperation

Meanwhile down in the trenches where the bus drivers work they are still getting assaulted and spit on

TRIMET IS BECOMING A COMEDY SHOW

If you enjoy comedy you should be a Trimet follower
