TRIMET SWIPES $13 MILLION FROM BUS AQUISITION FUND FOR LIGHT RAIL
1) ODOT has not dedicated this fund to bus purchases
2) TriMet has no guarantee they'd receive the $2.1/year maximum award for each of the next 6 years for bus purchases. Even if they did, this would only account for ~5 buses per year, when the goal is to replace 40.
3) TriMet has not been counting on these funds or using these funds for past purchases. This program is brand new.
I would say this is definitely a lost opportunity for bus purchase, but it would only have been a small piece of the pie.
