TriMet is chaining up their entire bus fleet in preparation for a winter storm that could complicate Tuesday's commute.
TriMet spokeswoman Mary Fetsch said
crews are working to chain up the entire fleet of about 950 buses, a
task that takes anywhere from eight to 10 hours.
Fetsch said about 450 buses will be fitted with chains in time for Tuesday morning's commute.
TriMet has 65 buses that have automatic drop-down chains which will run on "key routes."
Because of the chains, the buses
can only travel at about 25 mph. Because of the slower speed, Fetsch
said that buses will likely not be on time, but will be arriving at
stops at regular intervals.
