Pertaining to the first clip --and numerous others like it that I've heard on your scanner: Did you guys ever have a policy similar to what we did at Local 587 where we would get fined by the Union for reporting over the radio of another member breaking rules, not following policy, or traffic violations, etc.?? Or even going to a manager to report another operator breaking the rules or violations.
I remember it being stressed very heavily back when I was new in the 1970s that we never, ever should do that ...that one should ALWAYS report it to a shop steward or a union officer directly and not ever over the radio where a manager could possibly overhear the conversation. Not sure how it is there but supervisors (or 1st line variety ...dispatchers (coordinators at KCM), station agents (window"man" or more currently "base dispatchers" at KCM) road supervisors (D-cars or more currently district supervisors at KCM), etc. were part of the same Local. Even so, we were not allowed to even report violations to them but rather a shop steward or a union officer only. I find it very odd that is "tattling" on another member over the radio for the public to hear is condoned at Local 757.
No there is no policy like that at 757 but there should be!
