The whirling dervishes who populate the Ministry of Propaganda are always looking for ways to make things look better than they actually are. It's their job of course and they make MUCHO bucks to do that.
This month's propaganda contain something new it appears, "rush hour trips".
As if "rush hour trips" are somehow more important than any other trip. Trimet watchers already know of course that they pencil geeks added a few trips during the peak hours of service, of course they would want to exaggerate any gains they have themselves created.
Ending fare-less on buses and reducing bus service by 10% along with the decrepit condition of the bus fleet have created the loss of ridership.
Meanwhile the dervishes keep spinning the wonderful gains on the beloved green line which goes to a shopping center and the sacred WES which only runs a few hours everyday and ends in a parking lot.
The green line represents about 2.5% of ridership. (Why do more people ride the green line on the weekends than the weekdays?)
And the WES makes up less than 1% of rides.
Meanwhile the bus makes up about 60% of rides and we don't know how many of the MAX rides actually originated on a bus or visa versa.
Bus continues to be the workhorse, and now the ridership statistics will be harder to spin now that they will be comparing apples to apples instead of apples to oranges.
Now watch the mainstream media spit back word for word all the propaganda provided by the Ministry without question.
