DISRESPECTING BUS DRIVERS

Negotiations between Veolia Transportation Services and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1433 have been going on for nine months.
The last round of bargaining is slated for the end of this week and on April 28.
Veolia, which operated 33 of Valley Metro’s 99 routes, said if there’s no deal, it will impose a new contract, regardless of what the drivers want.

Veolia...a private contract outfit only in the business to turn a profit...no different than they way a public entity runs it, minus the profit part. The difference, employees make less at the company that profits the most.

Isn't that Steve Banta's grounds?

No wonder why he wanted to go to Phoenix. All he had to worry about is the contracts for the bus service; he didn't have to worry about the buses himself. I wonder if this was what Fred Hansen (and now Neil McFarlane) really want for TriMet - to contract out the buses and essentially become a light rail-only organization.

Banta is in the light rail office, they are not connected over there!

My understanding, from what I've been told, is that there's multiple agencies that oversee/operate transit in the Phoenix area and that Banta doesn't oversee the bus service contracts.
