SPECIAL TIMBERS FARE...TWO BUCKS!!!

The following is an excerpt from The Oregonian:

Other than a quick trip, don't expect anything special from the express buses. They will be regular TriMet vehicles with "Express Service" or "Timbers Shuttle" glowing from the digital reader boards. Trips will be $2 each way, with tickets available from attendants at the stops. (Carry dollar bills for faster service.)

I always thought the normal adult fare for a one zone trip (transit mall to Jeld Wen Field for example) was $2.05. As far as I know, the TriMet Board has never approved this "special" fare. The marketing whiz kids will counter with the argument that they are trying to save time by not charging that extra nickel. How come that argument is never presented when operators and passengers have to endure TriMet's antiquated fare collection system thousands of time a day? Oh, I forgot, It's a bus thing.....never mind.

I'm not sure the board would have to approve a special, one-time fare like that. And in any case, the passengers will only be getting a simple ride down the street.

But they kind of over-hype the thing by calling it an express service.
