At a time when many Americans are taking on more duties in the workplace without extra compensation, the average annual pay increase was 1.9 percent last year in Oregon's private sector, according to the state employment department. This year, the average pay raise is expected to be 3 percent, according to a recent survey by compensation consultant Towers Watson.
