It's legal to circulate petitions on TRIMET property

We have received notice that a private organization is planning to reach out to TriMet riders at major transit centers and on the Transit Mall on September 1. At this point, the activity is expected to occur at the Hollywood, Gateway, Rose Quarter, and Lombard transit centers as well as at the 82nd Avenue MAX station and on the Transit Mall.
On that day, you may see more people than usual engaged in signature gathering and related activities on and around the system.
This notice is a reminder that signature gathering is permitted on TriMet property as long as it is not conducted in a way that creates a risk to safety, impedes or blocks the free movement of passengers in and out of vehicles, or interferes with transit operations. Individuals gathering signatures must stay clear of doors. If a signature-gatherer inside a bus or train creates a safety risk, you can request that the activity be stopped. (SOP B501)
If witness any behavior that is a violation of TriMet code or have questions about any actions you witness, immediately notify the Operations Command Center (Dispatch/Control).
