ATU INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT LARRY HANLEY
Excellent talk with Laura Flanders (Some of the tactics he attributes to CTA have been used by Trimet)
Interesting spin on "tax collecton" but I am not buying. The bus drivers collect fares, just like an airline, cab driver, or ferry operator. I have yet to see a bus driver going into the community to collect the Payroll tax which is just that, a tax.
Saying bus drivers go into the community to collect taxes is like saying the PGE or NWNatural meter reader is collecting taxes. That is just gross distortion.
Of course Larry Hanley is like many of his ATU "brethern" - obese, lacking in acceptance of personal responsibility, and always demanding more.
Hanley is like most other union "leaders;" living off the backs of those he supposedly represents, constantly distorting the facts to bolster the union's principle purpose which is preservation of the union, and constantly creating conflict - real or imagined - to justify his existence.
I would hope most people would recognize the ridiculousness of this diatribe and be smart enough to see through the distortions and smoke screen. Then again, if people were intelligent enough to wade through this chaff, they probably wouldn't be looking here for any real wheat.
