The hypocrisy of the local rail power elites is truly stunning. The anything (light rail, WES, streetcar, tram), except buses, transit idealogue Fast Freddie, and his light rail technocrat successor, Neil MacFarlane,preach austerity to workers while setting themselves up with huge, six-figure pensions. Freddie infamously refused to use Fed stimulus funds to replace some of Trimet's gas guzzling, dinosaur buses because there are no made in Oregon buses. Now that we know how personally well off he is, we need him to sit down with Erik H. and become a main stakeholder in Erik's brilliant idea to have a bus manufacturing startup here in Oregon. Put your money where your mouth is Fred, and help bring some new buses and jobs to the area!
Has this info been passed onto the media? It's about time that the public learns that TriMet mgt runs TriMet for their own benefit and the benefit of the the chosen few developers that have TriMet execs in thier pockets.
Al, I hope you pass this along to Joe Rose. I am so sick and tired of Union employees taking the brunt of financial mismanagement. How many Directors have we hired in the past year with payscales exceeding 140000k/year? I've lost count! And Neil makes even more!
A bus driver would have to work for 200 years to have 15000 in monthly pension benefits. Fred did it in only 12 years. Not bad and he never drove a bus, he only drove Tri-Met into the ground and made the bus driver's job almost undo-able. Now we know why.
