But in another example of the contemptuous nature of Mcfarlanes lies, FAST FREDDIE HANSEN, WHO AMASSED OVER $2MILLION DOLLARS OF PERSONAL WEALTH STOLEN FROM THE TAX PAYER-CONTINUES TO ENJOY A MASSIVE PENSION OF $15,700 A MONTH. NO CUTS FOR FAST FREDDIE. I'm sure McFührer will get just as massive a pension. McFührer has been here 20 years and has always made significant 6 figure incomes. Today he is hauling down $240k for his ongoing destruction of his unionized employees.
The man "stole" 10 million dollars from the operating budget and put it into his personal 'contingency' budget. His own personal slush fund. He argues 'it can't be for actual services for the public' it has to be a one time thing.
Is there anything more important than providing service to transit riders.
According to McFührer they are not an emergency.
Now he's won his ruling, despite the arbitrator stating clearly, that many of the provisions in his final contract ARE ILLEGAL AND CERTAINLY UNETHICAL.
THE PUBLIC WILL GET NO SERVICES BACK, THEY WILL LOSE MORE AND HE WILL TRY TO BLAME THE UNION AGAIN.
The slug RANDY STEADMAN "looks forward" to working with ATU President BRUCE HANSEN.
MY RECOMMENDATION TO BRUCE IS TO TELL STEADMAN TO FUCK OFF .
You get no more concessions-follow through on McFührer's demand that we be allowed to strike. Then the next dispute will be handled properly, the members either stand up for themselves or they lose. In any event it will be the operators who decide
THIS management is determined to operate in an unethical manner, don't cooperate with them at all.
McFührer's only trump card was that he knew that the unionized employees exhibit no solidarity.
They are all in it for themselves, they want the money. (TRIMET CONTINUES PAYING OUTRAGEOUS OVERTIME)And they don't care about the union or their brothers or sisters.
And that people is why Trimet hires ignorant people to serve as their minions as bus drivers.

I posted this on the ATU Facebook page. We need to start a movement.
No RDO pass it on
We need to set a time period, say the first two weeks of fall sign up. get some buttons that say NO RDO, and make sure everyone knows about it. if people still want to work it they can but they would be frowned upon. This is the only way we can slow things down, ad it is perfectly legal. We should even inform the press that we made the decision to do so. Let the public know we have been taken advantage of.

And don't forget to take advantage of the sick time policy.
For your consideration:
--President Hansen should NOT communicate or negoiate with anyone but Neil McFarlane, general manager.
--frontline employees should organize and be strategic in protest, such as turning down all OT for 30-days. However, employees should NOT use their earned sick days for anything other than bonafide illness. This is an earned benefit for employees that should be kept and regarded for them and/or their familes.
--real result and action can be achieved with membership unity, organization, and directed activities that focus on safety, media attention such as briefings and organized messaging to the Governor, exposure of canc runs, ect., and continued exposure and presence at every Board mtg. Partnerships with OPAL, Sam Adams and active Neighborhood Groups is essential.
