Supervisory reports
Some comments were made that there could have been one more train somehow. About 50 plus had to walk into the event instead of riding.
-----------------------------
No parking removal on Davis NS 2nd for buses to layover.
Buses were not used due to the fact the lifts were 15-17 min each and there were only 2 upper deck lifts needed.
#1 Lift @ 15:12-15:27 15 min (2 ships Alert & Adelie)
#2 Lift @ 16:43-16:53 10 min (1 ship Blake)
#3 no lift needed for (#4 Invincible)
Cleared by 1700.
The bridge tender was a bit rude to our Supervisor , he felt as if the tender really didn’t want to be helpful, statements like don’t you have a dispatch that can tell you when the ships are in sight, like the St Johns bridge.. So John asked to leave the crow’s nest because they were not forth coming with pertinent information needed to alert our dispatch and control.
But (ODOT Supervisor) stated that our guy can be in their location which is at the West end of the bridge in a building above, and they have contact with the tender and marine radio information that may be helpful. # 503-880-4126
ODOT allowing us to move the barricades worked great as well.

Thanks for the sandwiches!

Buses seemed unclear about their route description into Hollywood transit center.
The reroutes need to be better looked at for next year it was not clear where the temporary stops were going to be. And the 75 to Milwaukie were not going to pull into the transit center when it was on their reroutes, I think we need more extra service buses placed on the different lines and utilize them as needed from either side of the reroute
----------------------------------
My assignment in the PPD Command center went well, they made me feel like I was part of their team. We had the same problems with the lane that was suppose to be open on 18th, the folks in the Command center had no knowledge of this being left open for us to use for buses. There was also a problem with officers not bumping through the run at 14th and Morrison but it seemed to be resolve after a call to Commander . If there is an after action meeting with the police and Rose Festival staff we need to bring up both the issues. The parade started on time and the last entry and cleanup crews were clear at Park and Burnside at 2232. I spent some time at Rose quarter after the parade and dealt with some folks holding doors on trains. I cleared the event and was back to Ruby at 0045 hours.

-----------------------------------------
11/67 was involved (mirror strike) while parked in the zone at 2nd/taylor. No damage to either vehicle but 11/67 was taken out of rotation for approx. 30minutes
Parking was not removed from our 2nd ave bus stops for the starlight shuttle. This forced our shuttle buses to service from the street at Oak and Ankeny.
-------------------------------
701 and 702 were used after regularly scheduled red line service ended to transport people to Parkrose and to CascadeStation.
Many passengers were unaware that the red line ended service for the day as early as it does. Extra service buses were utilized.
Police presence at 6th & Salmon was very good and very cooperative. No issues arose with them. However, it was determined that more bike racks were needed along 6th (about 30 feet worth) because spectators kept spilling into the street and police had to keep directing them back onto the sidewalk
I realize that financial constraints have made it impossible to provide the extra service that we did up until a few years ago for this event, but it became obvious very quickly after the parade was over that passengers that used the red line to go to the event were not aware that it would have already completed service for the day by the time they needed to go back to their point of origin. One lady told me that this was her first time using TriMet and she was displeased because of this. I can’t help but wonder if this situation contributed to the decline in ridership this year.
Other than that, I feel it went very well.
-----------------------------------------
Helped with bike racks at corner of SW 6th and Salmon and then traffic control/crowd control and bus and rail movement at the same corner with Phil Thompson.
The problem we had was the traffic coming into and out of the parking garage on SW 6th Ave next to McDonalds farside of SW Main Street. All traffic was not allowed to travel on SW 6th Ave except for the autos that needed the parking garage. Unfortunately some vehicles did not use the parking garage and continued north on SW 6th Ave toward Parade/Run bump through at SW Salmon where we had to intercept the auto and turn them back. Police helped with it.
Also traffic on SW main was backed up extremely and some line 4 took it upon themselves to reroute off SW Main onto 3rd Ave to Jefferson and then back to SW 6th Ave to go north.
I had to be off by 9pm for HOS so I have nothing on the parade itself.
