OPAL'S RESPONSE TO BOARD BRIEFING IS ODD

Unfortunately we will not get to see or hear the goings on at the last Trimet board briefing. Jason Mchuff who does all the filming of these events was out of town, the person who was going to do it  ended up having another commitment at the last second which then didn't allow me time to attempt to set up something else. An audio recording was made but the quality is too poor to be of any value. And of course Trimet itself has no interest in the public watching its meetings so no recording of these is made. So all we have are the tweets to go by.

In any event the tweets gave the impression that the 3 hour transfer was going to get the boot, for the second time now. (the riders have to pay for all the executive wage increases) But what I found interesting was OPAL's response to this apparent defeat:

Bus Riders Unite leaders had our first work session on Campaign for a Fair Transfer with TriMet brass today, following the TriMet Board of Directors briefing. Our take on it? Well, it's a mixed bag but a good start.

Come to our Bus Riders Unite meeting on Tuesday, July 16th to learn more and to take part in critical decision-making around CFT.
That to me seems like a very inappropriate response to what appears to be a defeat, unless they know something that we don't know. Maybe there is some sort of 'secret' deal between them and Mcfarlane. That might make sense because we all know that secrecy is how they roll.
