TriMet to fare app users: Dead battery? Good luck with that

What happens if someone purchases a fare on their phone and the device goes dead just before they're approached by a fare enforcer?
The answer then: No worries. The system is cloud-based. Inspectors will have the capability to punch in your phone number on their TriMet-issued iPhones and check to see if you have an activated fare.
Easy peasy.
However, at some point between then and app's official launch earlier this month, TriMet apparently told GlobeSherpa not to include that feature
