One of Mcfarlane's sock puppets writes his schtick in the anti union Oregonian
What is factual and clear is that TriMet broke the law and violated the principles of good faith bargaining. There is no evidence to suggest that ATU declined to work at the bargaining table to address avenues and real options that would allow both parties to arrive at a fair and fiscally responsive labor agreement for both parties.
Instead of rolling up the sleeves and doing the hard but critical work with Hunt and ATU, TriMet hires yet another attorney with a title of "Director of Labor Relations" who thus far has only pointed his pen to fire brittle and contentious letters to ATU.
The years spent by many TriMet leaders working to dismantle the "Us vs. Them" work environment are gone. ATU recognizes the absence of leadership that now exists at TriMet,thus, they prepare to respond accordingly to preserve the health, vitality, and workplace conditions for the frontline workers.
Leadership is not demonstrated by one's ability to "follow orders from above." There is no leadership at TriMet, which in itself, probably worries ATU a great deal more than Chilton's occasional Oregonian editorials.
