This boat held up all the traffic on the steel bridge
Man, I need a sailboat. I could really screw with the people of Portland give our fascination with lift bridges. Maybe offer a little river taxi service between Riverplace and McCormack Pier, every 10 minutes or so with sail boats. And get really big sails to promote that we're 100% powered by wind (with battery powered electric motors to get us where the wind isn't blowing, powered by stationary wind turbines or solar power at the docks).
Build the boat out of 100% Oregon grown wood and use Jeld-Wen windows so that we can call it environmentally sustainable and local.
And shut down and back up every MAX train - 100% legally under 200 year old federal law.
And then for promotional use I'll use Jason's webcam so I can promote that if you need to get somewhere in a hurry - don't take the bridge - take the boat.
McCormick Pier (not McCormack Pier) dock is private and gated, so I'm not sure they'd allow your sailboats to dock there and be used by your passengers.
Plus, I'm not sure where you'd get the money for the boats, insurance and everything else it would take to run such an operation.
Also, you would have some trouble using my Web cam for it.
I see Jason is so much more interested in a simple spelling error than anything else...
And just how would you know where I'd have a problem getting boats, insurance, etc.? Please, enlighten me on how you know anything about my personal finances.
Or whether I could or could not use a private pier - or why I wouldn't just set up a pier further northwest next to the Mounted Patrol facility (so I could tie up the Broadway Bridge too.)

If that was true, wouldn't I have spent the entire post on it?
Please, enlighten me on how you know anything about my personal finances.
For starters, you've told me your job history before, and that it's not been high-level stuff.
Or whether I could or could not use a private pier
Maybe because the pier is gated and one can guess that the residents (who probably collectively own the pier) aren't going to be inviting to having the public on their dock.
why I wouldn't just set up a pier further northwest next to the Mounted Patrol facility
Because it's not easy to get both land access and permission to build a pier. Even cities (like Lake Oswego) have had trouble getting approval.
