Northwest Navigator, the Northwest’s first Green Certified Motocoach
company, was recently nominated for the Washington County Visitors
Association’s 2011 Stakeholder Awards for Sustainable Tourism.
This
award is given each year to an individual, business or organization that
demonstrates an understanding of their impact on the natural and
cultural resources of Washington County in meeting the needs of present
visitors while protecting and enhancing opportunities for the future.
“We’re very pleased to receive this acknowledgement of our continuing
efforts to conduct business without leaving a heavy footprint
on the environment,” said Roxanne Gillis, President of NW Navigator
Luxury Coaches. “Sustainable practices are our personal philosophy and
business philosophy, and what drives our decisions as both individuals
and as a company.”
Northwest Navigator provides travelers with
high quality, reliable, luxury transportation for groups aboard its
late-model, biodiesel fueled fleet. Additionally, the company
was named as #6 of the 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies in
Portland, and the Portland Business Journal honored it as being one of
Portland’s Top Women-Owned Businesses in 2012. Its Green certification
was given by the Green Coach Certification Research initiative (GCC) as
part of a multi-year project being developed at the University of Vermont, in close collaboration with the American Bus Association (ABA) and the United Motorcoach Association (UMA).
