Most people don't pay much attention to the Trimet board meetings. Completely understandable since they are incredibly boring and there is absolutely no dissent from the puppet board of Mcfalanes activities.
I do watch them, at least with 1/2 my attention during the official Trimet bureaucrats presentations. They are all pretty useless as its nothing but self serving 'look how great we are doing' dog and pony show.
But I do listen intently to the public speakers. People that have taken time out of their days with no reimbursement (all the Trimet people speaking get paid to be there except the puppets who are sitting there as a 'political payoff') to present issues which they feel Trimet paid staff are neglecting or just being downright dishonest about them.
I recall vividly the service cut/fare increase hearings. The doom and gloom scenario painted by Mcfarlane and his yes men/woman.
OPAL had a huge concern about Trimet 'doubling' it's contingency budget.
The obscenity of all that is that Mcfarlane knew back then and was already receiving a increase in his already exorbitant salary. (and many other executives got higher raises). Those raises were part of his 'contingency' budget.
See Mcfarlane and his cronies are like the rest of the ethically bankrupt world.
'Austerity' is for the 'little people'
Austerity never effects those at the top.
And still he sits in charge, with the complete support of the other Oligarchs who think he is actually 'doing the right thing'
$1 million dollars for raises and not services. Multiply that for all the years that it will be in effect, and you have lost a lot of money for transit which has gone into insiders pockets.
Pathetic

I think people don't understand, "it's their" public funds, that the company is using. Just look at some right wingers who cry about Gov. spending is out of control, well you should invite them in to the fray, and say, this is you local bureaucracy spending your tax dollars, how does it feel.
