Woman struck, killed by MAX train near Lloyd Center

A woman was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital Thursday morning in critical condition after falling in front of a westbound MAX train at the Northeast 7th Avenue MAX station.
She later died of her injuries, police said.
Shuttle buses are transporting commuters between the Lloyd Center and Old Town/Chinatown stations. TriMet says to expect delays.
Portland police officers and Transit officers responded to the Northeast 7th Avenue and Holladay Street station, where the woman, who is believed to be in her 60s, fell in front of a train around 7:35 a.m. just as it was entering the station.
She was dragged a short distance and then pinned between the train's undercarriage and the tracks, said Lt. Rich Chatman, a spokesperson for Portland Fire & Rescue.
Fire fighters used  hydraulic lifts to raise the train so rescuers could pull her free. A section of the front bumper had to be removed to pull the woman out shortly before 8 a.m.
Red, green and blue MAX service is stopped in both directions at 7th and Holladay as a full team of investigators work the scene.
Stay tuned to Trimet.com for service updates.
Riders are advised to use regular bus service around the Lloyd District area, said Roberta Altstadt, a spokesperson for TriMet.
