A 19-year old man was struck by a MAX Green Line train in Southeast
Portland early Monday afternoon when he ignored a warning horn.
"He was trying to beat the train," said Paul Corah, Portland Fire & Rescue public information officer. "The train won."
The
operator was pulling to the end of the Southeast Divison Street
platform just after 1 p.m. and sounded a warning horn, said Mary Fetsch,
the agency's public information officer. The train was moving at a
"slow speed," she said, but the man continued on his way.
Corah
said the man, who was dragged about 90 feet down the track, was taken to
the hospital. His name and condition have not been released.
