The question is why has Trimet resorted to bully tactics to get its way?
Let's look at the biggest lie that Trimet has been circulating for years now, EVEN AFTER THEY WON THE FIRST ARBITRATION THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE SCRIPT!
"With the most generous benefits in the country, the agency is unable to restore or expand transit service due to these expensive benefits for active employees and retirees."
(By the way, how come nobody is talking about reducing Fred Hansen's absurd $16k/mo pension or Playfairs $11k/mo pension)
The most generous in the country huh?
More generous than Microsoft?
More generous than Intel?
How bout Nike?
How about Halliburton?
How bout the congressmen of the United States Of America, I know for sure that they have much better benefits than a Trimet union employee.
But according to Trimet its union employees have the most generous benefits in the country.
So Trimet resorts to bully tactics to get its way, the question is why?
WHY DO EMPLOYERS BULLY?
a) to avoid facing up to their inadequacy and doing something about it;
b) to avoid accepting responsibility for their behaviour and the effect it has on others,
c) to reduce their fear of being seen for what they are, namely a weak, inadequate and often incompetent individuals, and,
d) to divert attention away from their inadequacy - in an insecure or badly-managed workplace, this is how inadequate, incompetent managers keep their jobs.
You can't deal with bullies, you have to face bullies head on.
No negotiations!
This sort of finger pointing and blaming is a very serious assault against its union workers/retirees. If they are determined to destroy us then make them work for it.
I'm sure the assholes at the top will get ANOTHER when it is all said and done.
