John Charles articulates why the bus was better than the LR from Gateway

Most of what John Charles believes I don't. But when it comes to the light rail debate he seems right on the target to me.

Where is the company going to get $90 mill from, they've exhausted the pensions already and I know they won't cut theirs.

Cost per trip on express busses is much higher than LRT.

The 96, for example has an average cost per ride of $4.53. Blue line is $1.67. Also, any MAX commuter (or 96 rider will tell you), buses are subject to traffic, whereas the MAX is not.

Ya Max we know the tighter you pack he sardines the less it costs to ship them per unit.

Sure MAX isn't subject to traffic, its just subject to its own constant problems, DK's, medical emergencies, constant mechanical problems yadda yadda yadda.

Light rail is not the panacea that it was cracked up to be.

I'd take a nice express bus any day of the week over the sardine can. Make it really nice and I would even pay more

That's like saying, I would rather crawl at 15mph compared to 50+mph, which is better?

Express buses generally don't run outside peak hours, and don't stop at intermediate points. So, if you want to travel on a Sunday and/or to Hollywood, they're useless.

How bout this....EXPRESS BUSES 7 DAYS A WEEK! Wow talk about new innovative thinking!

Don't think ridership would justify it; they could only serve people going between points A and D; MAX also serves points B, C and E.

I've seen virtually empty max trains jason
