This is a view of the windshield of the new 3100 series buses. How many blind spots do you see there? The mirror, the large window with the large frame, and a whole new obstruction, a big post in what appears to be in the left of the main view! Why would any safety conscious organization purchase a vehicle that includes an entire EXTRA visual obstruction?

The extra visual obstruction is part of the "styling features" of the bus. All the North American manufacturers bring out models that are updatings of existing layouts with futuristic noses tacked on the front. Lipstick on a pig, if you will.
The theory is that it's one way to attract riders back to bus riding if the buses are high tech and streamlined in appearance. Never mind that all Gilligs have the slab-sided aesthetics of a saltine box.
4 including the inablility to see left rear, when you try to turn your head.
