Trimet officials have a fiduciary responsibility to its public to do everything in their power to protect them from harm. Well tonight they had a monster fail. They failed to protect their riding public.
At 6:39PM I knew there was about to be a major Trimet fail and issued a warning on Trimet Scanner Twitter advising riders of the imminent fail.( an hour before the fail occurred) TRIMET did nothing, no warning, no advisories, no nothing until 20 minutes AFTER THE FAIL had occurred. And so hundreds of folks were trapped in MAX's that were stuck threatening their safety and security. Some people were stranded for 4 1/2 hours on broken MAX trains waiting for rescue buses in freezing conditions.
Now I know for sure if someone like me can see a shutdown coming then the so called 'professionals', who earn six figure salaries, should be able to see it coming. The fact that they didn't see it coming brings into question (as if we already didn't know this) their ability to run the transit system and they should be sent packing.
But we all know that is not the way things work, in Portlandia or anywhere else for that matter. When you achieve a certain level of status in these governmental organizations there is no such thing as failure. They are not capable of failure, all the wagons circle to protect those who have failed and find reasons to blame others for their failure.
What a sick society.

I have been listening to operations closely since yesterday. More closely than anybody at Trimet apparently.
Good work there, Al. I suspect that you saved some folks a lot of discomfort - and time for their lives. And what many at TriMet don't seem to understand is that for most people, time has value.
