TriMet says it messed up with how it handled a health scare that started with a tweet on Tuesday afternoon and ended with an apology about 24 hours later.
Oregon's largest public transit agency conceded that it panicked.
“We were obviously wrong or mistaken,” said Harry Saporta, TriMet’s safety and security executive. “To our knowledge, we had an operator who had been diagnosed with whooping cough.”
