All the local media outlets jumped onto this of course. Gotta pump the propaganda to the public and make sure they know we are keeping them 'safe'. Of course if they were really interested in keeping the public 'safe' there would be a real live cop stationed at these locations. Camera's DO NOT prevent crime, they can only help solve it and do nothing about a crime in progress. They say there are people actually monitoring these feeds, I believe its the dispatchers who are also dealing with communications primarily. And the TSA is a TRIMET partner? I don't know too many Americans that are happy with the TSA and the fact that TRIMET is bringing them more and more onto the transit system is troubling. Pretty soon we will be seeing random inspections of your property like in Boston.
The police state encroaching on our civil rights and places like TRIMET aide the process

"They" SAY the cameras are being monitored and while it is possible for them to be monitored live, primarily by controllers and possibly dispatch (and select supervisors and other higher ups, see last paragraph...), this applies only to platform cameras (and not all of those are hooked to network). Cameras on buses and trains are not hooked to network and cannot be monitored "live".
Monitoring by controllers of course happens when the controllers are not doing the 850 other things they are responsible for, and IF their workstations have the required software and IF the users are adequately trained on said software.
This system is not at all like what occurs in places like London where there are rooms full of monitors and they are watched by people whose sole job is to watch and report any bad stuff.
Al makes reference to this a couple of times in recent posts but no mention on "mainstream media, of course!
Not to say that no one is watching, as at least two MOW supervisors were chastened by union reps for watching employees with these DHS funded cameras intended of course for watching for crimes, acts of terrorism, etc....perhaps here lies the real purpose for so many cameras, eh?
But then keeping an eye on employees is perhaps vital to national security...just hope nobody is being murdered while that camera is pointing at employee instead of murder scene!
