It's not a pretty sight. It's a puppet board of rich people and entitled people who have helped the governor in one way or the other. It's a patronage board, you can only get appointed it if you know the governor or someone who knows the governor. The board functions as a 'rubber stamp' for whoever is the general manager at the time. There has never been a case where the board has rejected an item from the general manager. There is never any dissent on the Trimet board.
Disagreeing with the General manager or voting against the majority will lead to a quick departure from the Trimet board. Lyn Lerbach found that out.
It's a closed loop that cannot be penetrated by any member of the public. It's a hopeless bascially.
Unchallengeable, unaccountable, they function solely as a cover for the general manager. They exist in a world that is so removed from the reality of the Trimet system it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.
They've allowed a huge amount of damage to Trimet riders and employees, and they continue doing damage to both groups. All the while they are enriching Mcfarlane cronies beyond belief. Worst of all they are unstoppable.
Love or hate Lane Jensen, he is the only one shaking the tree that the board lives in.
Warner could have rescheduled the meeting to another time this month. The fact that he didn't obviously means he (and mcfarlane) are hiding something.
The once 'respectable' (it was never world class) transit system has fallen and it can't get up. It's can't get up because the leadership doesn't want it to get up
