You can argue about underlying motivation/reason for management's "lair", but there's no doubt about the end result of isolating management and paper-pushing workers from the operations workers.
A fine old tradition in the American large corporate workplace but much more recent at Trimet. It's an essential step if you're trying to break a union.
Very interesting observation on the essential step to breaking a union makes complete and total sense
