GOVERNOR’S OFFICE CLARIFIES BOARD APPOINTEE’S DISTRICT

Governor John Kitzhaber appointed Joe Esmonde to the TriMet Board of Directors in June of this year to replace Tiffany Sweitzer, whose term ended July 1. Due to a clerical error, Esmonde, who resides in District 2, was incorrectly appointed to District 3 as the replacement for Steve Clark. This error has been corrected and Esmonde now represents District 2. The Governor’s office consulted with the Secretary of the Senate and Rules Committee staff and confirmed the appointment stands. However, Esmonde’s votes on board items will be invalidated but do not affect the actions taken by TriMet’s Board as no decision passed with a margin of just one vote.
