Jim Fowler says Trimet cutting union pensions by 70%
And he's not kidding, Trimet union employees are being sentenced to a life of servitude to the company because there will be no retirement till you get medicare and retirees are being sentenced to a life of poverty

Perhaps medical coverage will somewhat diminish monthly pensions for those with the old defined benefit plan, but I simply cannot believe that TriMet will cut the existing pensions. I just don't believe it.
to anonymous, TriMet Pensions are not in stone, they are subject to all future contracts. Jim Fowler is not a ranting former Bus Driver. This a list of Jim's 38 yrs of service to TriMet. Bus Driver. Bus Road Supervisor, Extra Dispatcher. He was one of 10 that actually did the operation set up of MAX, co-authored the original training manual for lightrail,training supervisor at lightrail,served on the Union Exec Board. Now after retiring TriMet wants to change his retirement benefits which would result in a 70% cut in his retirement benefits. Believe it, it's real.
Nope, Mr Fowler is not a ranting trimet bus driver who spent 15 years as a mini runner and never moved to any other position within Trimet.
Mr Fowler helped build the company known as Trimet.
And now the company is kicking Jim Fowler in the teeth and throwing him and the rest of us under the bus.
I knew the day I entered the Trimet institution that it was impersonal in inhumane hence I never wanted to move anywhere except in the job with the least responsibility and least amount of my energy.
Mr Fowler on the other hand obviously played a major role in building a real transit system, more than anyone of those executives have done or will ever do.
It's the Jim Fowler's of Trimet that made Trimet work.
It was heartbreaking to hear him speak today and realize just exactly what Trimet has done to him as our twilight approaches.
Beyond shameful, the literally have stolen our retirements, its actually worse than what happened to the Greeks.
The irony is to me that I called this about 3 years ago. Unfortunately I was right on the money, but nobody listens to a 'ranting former trimet bus driver'

The union pensions are decreased by the exact amount that they increase the medical coverage payment
