KITZHABER NOMINATES JOE ESMONDE FOR THE TRIMET BOARD
Better than anyone they have now, but sill only 1 vote
I'm not entirely convinced this addition to TriMet's Board of Directors is all that much good for public service workers. May be good for capital construction workers and the temporary construction jobs McFarlane has in mind for Oregon City and Vancouver. As for operating and maintaining a public service and defending the working class careers associated with it, I just don't see that.
Tom - that was my thought precisely. It appears that he's very well positioned for the various construction jobs that come with light rail expansion; and thus nothing to do with the bus system. A perfect fit to the current Board that is anti-bus.
I hope Henry is right, in that he'll stand up for ALL labor including the dedicated drivers and mechanics at TriMet...but my doubts have been founded and proven time and time again.

Then one union needs to reach out to another in brother hood to express concerns and solidarity. For the upcoming future.
