Maybe he's talking about Thomas Oliva who cut a sweet deal with a vendor , left TriMet and went on to become some sort of Regional Rep for that vendor?

Yes, and Oliva did not just get a job with any vendor, it just happened to be Scheidt & Bachmann, them what makes TriMets wonderful ticket machines!!!
Yeah he had quite a colorful past with TriMet...
